Mother convicted of offence for taking her child outside of Australia


Section 65Y of the Family Law Act imposes certain obligations on parents if parenting orders have been made. The section of the Act provides that a parent (or party to the proceedings) must not take or send a child concerned with the proceedings to a place from Australia to a place outside Australia. There are two exceptions that apply.
